# Edit or delete a property

> What you can change after creating a property, and what happens when you delete one.

<Note>
  There's no "deactivate" or archive option for properties today — only edit and permanent delete. If you want to temporarily hide a property from guests without deleting it, remove its services instead (see [Assign providers and properties](/services/assign-providers-and-properties)) or simply stop distributing its QR code/link.
</Note>

## Editing a property

Open a property and click **Edit** to change:

* Cover photo
* Address (search again or re-pin coordinates)
* Name
* Rooms (Rooms & suites only) — add more using the same [bulk input](/properties/rooms-and-suites-setup), or remove rooms with no request history

<Warning>
  **Property type cannot be changed after creation.** If you set up a property as Entire property but meant Rooms & suites (or vice versa), you'll need to delete it and create it again.
</Warning>

## Deleting a property

Deleting a property is permanent — this removes the property, any rooms on it, and its request history.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Clear active requests first">
    If the property has any request that isn't Completed or Cancelled, you can't delete it yet. You'll see a message pointing you to **Booking requests** to finish or cancel them first.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm the delete">
    Once there are no active requests, you'll see a confirmation dialog listing exactly what will be removed: any rooms, any services linked only to this property, and any past completed/cancelled request records for it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Delete forever">
    This can't be undone.
  </Step>
</Steps>

</Frame>

<Note>
  The confirmation mentions "deleting these services" — but services themselves aren't deleted, only unlinked from this property. If a service is also assigned to other properties, it stays intact and bookable there. Only the property-specific link and the property's own request history are permanently removed.
</Note>

## What's kept vs. removed

|                                     | Removed      | Kept                                              |
| ----------------------------------- | ------------ | ------------------------------------------------- |
| Rooms on this property              | ✅            |                                                   |
| Past requests for this property     | ✅            |                                                   |
| Service ↔ property link | ✅ (unlinked) | Service itself stays (usable on other properties) |
| Providers assigned to this property | ✅ (unlinked) | Provider accounts stay active |
